Glove selection for healthcare to be discussed at two UK seminars
By Liz White, ERJ staff
Two seminars on glove selection for health care and personal protection are being held in the UK in early March. Experts from Germany, Finland, Malaysia and the UK are attending to discuss how recent experience and best practice can be used to guide policy makers and users when selecting gloves.
Aspects to be discussed include how various European countries are tackling latex protein allergy issues, and how this has affected glove selection policy by the medical sector. Risk assessment and management, performance of SR versus NR gloves, which gloves offer the best barrier protection, are other topics on the programme.
The two meetings, on Friday 11 March in London and on Monday 14 March in Edinburgh, are being organised by two Malaysian groups, with help from the UK's Association of British Healthcare Industries.
Malaysia's new Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities, Datuk Peter Chin Fah Kui, will give a keynote speech and hold a press conference before the seminar.
