Columbian evaluates Brazil site for new carbon black plant
Marietta, Georgia. - Columbian Chemicals Co. is evaluating building a new carbon black manufacturing facility in Bahia, Brazil. The company said it has identified a plot of land within the Camacari Pole chemical complex in the Bahia State, and is in negotiations with the landowner.
Columbian said it has completed basic engineering and economic analysis and is engaged in ongoing discussions with customers in the region for anticpated supply. Currently, said Columbian, it is completing the final analysis for the project and expects to have a final recommendation and decision during the first quarter of this year.
