Goodyear investing $120 million to expand Brazil tyre plants
SAO PAULO, Brazil (Dec. 16)--Goodyear is spending $120 million over three years in Brazil to expand medium radial truck tire capacity 50 percent at its plants in Sao Paulo and Americana.
The tire maker, through its Compania Goodyear do Brasil subsidiary, already invested a portion of the $120 million during 2004, a spokesman said. The investment program will stretch into 2006, he said.
The investment focuses on upgrading equipment and processes at the 33-year-old Americana and 65-year-old Sao Paulo facilities. The company did not disclose any impact on employment the changes might have.
