CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Nov. 16)--Continental Tire North America Inc. is raising prices, effective Jan. 1, on its commercial and off-the-road tyres as a result of rising raw material and other costs.

The increase of between 3-6 percent affects all of Conti's truck and off-road brands including Continental, General and Semperit.

Conti joins three other tyre makers in announcing price hikes commencing in December and January. Yokohama Tire Corp. and Pirelli S.p.A. each are raising prices 3 to 5 percent in December.

Yokohama´s price hike affects its consumer, commercial and off the road tyres and is effective Dec. 31.

The Pirelli increase, which impacts the company's pricing in North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific and the Middle East, covers all of the company´s consumer, motorcycle and heavy truck tyre brands.

In addition to these companies, Hankook Tire America Corp. is raising its tyre prices by 3 to 5 percent, effective Jan. 1. The price increase applies to Hankook's full line of passenger, high performance, light truck and medium truck tyres.
