Lanxess force majeur after EPDM plant failure
By Patrick Raleigh ERJ On-line news editor
Leverkusen, Germany-Lanxess GmbH has declared force majeur on EPM/EPDM rubber following a breakdown at its plant in Marl, Germany. The problem was caused by a compressor failure at the 55-kilotonne-per-annum unit on 28 Oct, according to a Lanxess spokesman.
The plant restarted on 3 Nov, but the company remains "unable to meet volume requirements for the time being," the spokesman said in an 11 Nov written statement.
