Bridgestone to centralise control of China tyre operations in Shanghai
Tokyo--Bridgestone Corp has established a new company in Shanghai to oversee its tyre operations on the Chinese mainland. The new company, Bridgestone (China) Investment Co., Ltd., has a start-up capitalisation of $68 million. Its establishment follows the formal opening on September 24 of Bridgestone's third Chinese tyre plant in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province.
Bridgestone said the move is designed to provide a central unit to manage Chinese tyre production, marketing, and service and "will enable Bridgestone to respond faster and more flexibly to customer expectations and to demand trends in China's rapidly expanding tyre market." according to a Bridgestone statement.
