Vietnamese look for bright future in rubber
Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam--In a long report, the Voice of Vietnam gives details of the progress of Vietnam's natural rubber production sector over the last 20 years. The report says Vietnam is the world's third-largest exporter and total production in the country is around 250 000 tonnes per year from 220 000 ha under rubber.
The country is reportedly following the Malaysian pattern and attempting to increase local consumption and processing of the material, while simultaneously trying to reduce exports of the raw commodity.
