Trelleborg buys Norwegian pipe seals maker

Trelleborg. Sweden-Trelleborg Group is to expand its aftermarket sales for pipe seals in the Nordic region via its latest acquisition-Norwegian company Batek.
Trelleborg's Building Systems unit has signed an agreement to acquire the operations of Spydeberg, Norway-based Batek, which has annual sales of SKr10 million (Euro 1.1 million) and specialises in the pipe seals aftermarket.
This latest acquisition gives Trelleborg Building Systems access to the expanding aftermarket for these seals in the region, according to a Trelleborg statement on the deal.
In building products, Trelleborg offers both polymer- and bitumen-based components for sealing and waterproofing in industrial and consumer sectors. It claims to be a market leader within sealing profiles in Europe.
Trelleborg Building Systems has annual sales of about SKr 2300 million, some 1400 employees, and production units in Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Poland, Germany, Spain and the UK.
