Metro begins shipping tyres under 'Metro-Continental' brand
Chennai, India--Metro Tyres Ltd. has started shipping "Metro-Continental"-brand tyres for two-wheelers into the Indian market.
The two companies have jointly established a factory in Ludhiana at a cost of Rs 400 million (€7 million) using former Continental machinery and technology. The plant has initial capacity of 100 000 tyres per month, of which 30 000 will go to Conti as off-take; 20 000 will be sold to OEM customers and the remaining 50 000 will be sold into the Indian replacement market.
