China's rubber industry booms
China's rubber product makers are growing fast, according to data published by the China Association of Rubber Industry (CARI).
Rubber consumption also jumped, with the combined factory demand running at just over 8900kt for the six-month period, up 35 percent over the first six months of 2003.
The Association has said its 252 members generated sales of Yuan 32 000 million (€3150 million) in the first six months of 2004, up 29 percent on the figure for the same period in 2003.
CARI said it has 42 members who make tyres, and their combined production in the six months was 59 million units, of which 32 million were of radial construction. Notable was the increase in production of all steel radial truck tyres, up by 60 percent, to 6.71 million units in the six month period.
In hose and belt, 49 manufacturers made 30 million m2 of rubber belt in the six months, up 43 percent. Hose production was up 27 percent, at 24.4 million metres.
