By Patrick Raleigh ERJ On-line news editor
Research Triangle Park, North Carolina-Dow Reichhold Specialty Latex is increasing the price of styrene-butadiene latex products in Asia Pacific by 5-10 percent per wet kilo with effect from 1 Sept. The hikes cover products used in the building and construction, adhesive, concrete and other speciality markets.
“The price adjustment is needed to enable our company to maintain its pace of investment into technology development, facilities, and customer growth efforts,†said Heng Kent Him, commercial director for Dow Reichhold in Asia.
“The continuing escalation in raw material costs has eroded product margins to the point where we can no longer absorb the increases,†he added in a 3 Aug company statement.
Research Triangle Park-based Dow Reichhold, is a 50:50 joint venture between Dow Chemical Co. and Reichhold Inc., a subsidiary of Dainippon Ink and Chemicals.
