JSR licensing butadiene technology to Reliance

Tokyo-JSR Corp. has licensed its butadiene distillation technology to Reliance Industries Ltd, which has started constructing a 140-kilotones-per-annum butadiene plant. The facility in Hazila, Gujarat, India, is to be supplied with feedstock from a 700-ktpa naphtha cracker, according a 9 June JSR statement.
JSR's extractive distillation technology using mixed solvents and can save energy by requiring about half the electric power consumption of the conventional technologies, the Japanese firm claims.
