Japanese officials raid ten tyre makers in bid-fixing probe
Officials from Japan's Fair Trade Commission have raided the offices of at least ten tyre makers in an effort to uncover some alleged illegal trade practices. "We allege that they have repeatedly rigged bids for tyres ordered by the Defence Agency [in violation of the anti-monopoly law]", said Masaru Matsuo, the director of management & planning division at the antitrust watchdog. He did not specify the time period of the alleged bid-rigging.
Raids took place at the Japanese offices of Bridgestone Corp., Goodyear Wingfoot K.K, Yokohama Rubber, Toyo Tire & Rubber Co. and other tyre makers.
