Bridgestone to make runflats in S African unit
Bridgestone Corp. is investing Rand 700 million (€85 million) to modernise and expand its tyre factory in Brits, South Africa. The investment will allow Bridgestone to make runflat tyres at Brits, making it only the third Bridgestone plant with such capability. The other two units are Poznan, Poland and Japan. Bridgestone reportedly said it is building two more runflat production units in Japan, due on stream by 2006
The new spend will bring the capacity at Brits to 1.9 million units per year, up from 1.45 million and will create 70 new jobs.
