First tire rolls off production line at Yuan1.2bn aviation, speciality tire manufacturing base
Hohhot, China – Huangpu Tire Technology (Inner Mongolia) has started production at its new aviation and speciality tire manufacturing base in China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region.
The first tire rolled off the production line at the Hohhot Economic & Technological Development Zone on 28 Sept, marking the completion and start-up of the project, said a statement by the Hohhot municipal government.
The first product manufactured at the facility was a speciality engineering tire, with the project progressing from establishment to production in 14 months.
As previously reported by ERJ, Huangpu received environmental approval in May for the Yuan1.2 billion (€150 million) project in the Shaerqin industrial zone. (ERJ report)
Under the approved environmental impact assessment, the facility is designed to produce 80,000 speciality engineering tires annually, alongside 15,000 new aviation tires and 15,000 retreaded aviation tires.
The project includes aviation tire and rubber-mixing workshops as well as raw-material storage and other supporting facilities.
Huangpu Tire Technology was established in June 2025 as a joint venture between the Guangdong-based Huangpu Materials Research Institute and Inner Mongolia Jiantong Technology Development Co., a state-owned company under the Hohhot Economic & Technological Development Zone.
According to the statement, the new facility 'fills a gap' in high-end tire manufacturing in Inner Mongolia.
