Tyres Europe expands with new national association memberships

Brussels – Tyres Europe has signed cooperation agreements with Assogomma, Consorcio Nacional de Industriales del Caucho (Consorcio) and elanova, formally welcoming the Italian, Spanish and French national associations as association members.

The national bodies will represent the interests of their tire industry members within a wider European context, said Tyres Europe 2 Sept.

The agreements provide “a framework for greater coordination on sector representation, connecting national expertise with Tyres Europe’s engagement at the European level,” said the Brussels-based group.

The strengthened cooperation will support “a more coherent dialogue on the competitiveness of Europe’s tire manufacturing industry” and the conditions needed for the sector to invest, innovate and produce in Europe.

“We are taking an important step towards a stronger and more representative voice for Europe’s tire industry,” explained Livio Magni, Tyres Europe president.

The new additions, he said, come at a time of “profound industrial transformation,” which warrants closer alignment between national and European perspectives to “foster investment and innovation and support a competitive and resilient manufacturing base in Europe.”

“By joining Tyres Europe, Italy is ready to place its expertise at the service of a stronger and more coordinated representation of the tire sector at both European and national level,” said Roberto Forresu president of Assogomma.

Likewise, Julio Fernandez, president of the Spanish national association, said the move will strengthen its European policy and regulatory discussions, while facilitating the exchange of expertise and best practices with peer associations across Europe.
