Australian tire service company acquires Black Rubber retail operations

Brisbane, Australia – Australian family-run tire retail and service company Get A Grip has completed the acquisition of the retail operations of Black Rubber in Perth and Port Hedland, Western Australia, from parent company NTAW.

The transaction, valued at AUS$3.3 million (€2 million) covers the assets required to operate the Black Rubber retail business, with the consideration including goods and services tax and adjusted for leave entitlements of transferring employees.

Property leases have also been assigned to Get A Grip Tyres, NTAW announced 31 Aug.

Black Rubber is a tire supply and service business focused on tire management for the transport, industrial, mining and resource sectors, as well as the passenger car market.

The company is an approved Michelin Service Centre and part of the Michelin network, providing tire-related services on behalf of Michelin Australia.

The sale to Get A Grip Tyres, however, does not yet resolve ownership of the equipment used at Black Rubber's Perth retreading factory.

Get A Grip Tyres, said NTAW in its announcement, has acquired the relevant retail assets, while "GAGT, BR and Michelin continue to discuss ownership of the plant and equipment required to operate BR's retreading factory in Perth."
