China’s Black Cat unveils plans for new 240ktpa carbon black plant

New €130-million facility scheduled for construction in 2026-28, according to Chinese procurement bidding agency
Beijing, China – Liaoning Changxing Black Cat Carbon Materials Technology is planning to invest over than Yuan1 billion (€130 million) in a carbon black production plant in Liaoning province, according to an entry published on the China government procurement bidding website.
The new-build project, with construction scheduled for 2026-28, will cover nearly 24.5 hectares and is expected to have annual carbon black production capacity of 240 kilotonne per annum (ktpa), the 10 Aug project listing said.
The listing did not specify carbon black grades or identify particular rubber or tire applications.
According to the tender details, the facility will use petroleum and coal-chemical by-products as feedstock and employ an oil-furnace cracking process to produce carbon black.
The project will not use dry-granulation technology, according to the listing.
Planned equipment includes electrical and drying equipment, high-speed dispersion vessels, metering pumps, production and pilot lines, and refrigeration units.
