Sri Trang eyes ‘factory of future’ in transformation drive

Bangkok – Sri Trang has set out the details of its ‘transformation’ plan, which will focus on using artificial intelligence in ‘practical applications and for tangible outcomes’ throughout 2026.

The group is expanding its use of artificial intelligence and automation across its manufacturing operations through its Sri Trang AI Machine (SAM) initiative, it announced 14 Aug.

Having implemented its “AI Dryer” at two natural rubber manufacturing facilities, Sri Trang said it planned to expand the technology to six facilities during 2026, followed by a further eight facilities in 2027.

SAM is also being extended to the group's rubber glove business.

The programme forms part of a broader “factory of the future” project, which is intended to integrate machinery, automation, data and AI across the manufacturing process.

This, Sri Trang explained, covers raw-material receiving and quality assessment, production and energy management, quality inspection, and operational monitoring and management.

The Thai group said the infrastructure upgrades are intended both “to enhance operational efficiency,
accuracy, and decision-making across its operations.”

As part of the process, AI applications will be developed and deployed throughout the business value chain, covering the rubber plantation business, NR business, and rubber glove business, as well as employees and their workflows across the organisation.
