P Zero R developed with dedicated compound for Turbo model’s 0 to 100 km/h acceleration in 2.5 seconds
Milan – Pirelli has developed six “tailor-made” tire fitments for the all-electric Porsche Cayenne, including a P Zero R designed for the high-performance Turbo version, the tire maker announced 5 Aug.
The fifth generation of the P Zero, P Zero R, said Pirelli, uses “a specific compound developed to meet the grip levels for the Cayenne Electric Turbo, which sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.5 seconds.”
The compound, it said, delivers “record-breaking acceleration”, with the tire using technology derived from its motorsport experience and the compound developed for the Porsche 911.
The six fitments were developed entirely in a virtual environment, with each specification tested before physical prototypes were produced.
The range comprises three summer tires, including the P Zero and P Zero R, two winter tires and one all season tire.
All six fitments feature Pirelli’s Elect technology, which uses dedicated compounds and structures to address the higher weight and instant torque of electric vehicles, while reducing rolling resistance, noise and wear.
