‘Multi-layer resin hose’ adopted for Suzuki SUV to meet upcoming emissions regulations
Nagoya, Japan – Sumitomo Riko has started mass production of a ‘multi-layer resin hose’ for fuel lines on Maruti Suzuki India’s Brezza SUV, which it says meets India’s upcoming stricter emissions regulations.
The hose connects the fuel filler inlet to the fuel tank and replaces conventional rubber hoses with a multi-layer resin structure, Sumitomo Riko said 6 Aug.
The company said the design reduces emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) generated by fuel and complies with India’s BS6 Phase 3 emissions regulations, which are scheduled to be introduced and strengthened from 2027.
Sumitomo Riko said the hose is intended to help reduce environmental impact as well as health risks associated with VOC emissions.
