ACE Laboratories expands thermal analysis with QAT acquisition

Ravenna, Ohio — ACE Laboratories has acquired Quick Accurate Testing (QAT), expanding its thermal analysis and rheology capabilities while increasing testing capacity for elastomers, polymers and other materials.

Based in Annapolis, Maryland, QAT specialises in thermal analysis and rheology across a broad range of materials, including elastomers, polymers, composites, ceramics, metals, bio-materials and coatings.

The acquisition, said ACE 17 July announcement, increases Ravenna-based ACE's differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) capacity four-fold and doubles its thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) capacity.

It also adds thermomechanical analysis (TMA), simultaneous differential thermal analysis, which combines DSC and TGA measurements in a single test, and an AR G2 rheometer for viscoelastic characterisation.

Existing dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) capability has also been expanded.

"QAT gives us additional depth in capabilities we already have while expanding our overall thermal analysis offering," said Erick Sharp, founder and CEO of ACE Laboratories.

"It also broadens the industries we can support," he added. "QAT brings experience across a diverse range of materials, including work in the bio-market."
