Partnership to focus on lightweight materials, manufacturing and testing technologies
St Paul, Minnesota – 3M has signed a multi-year agreement to become the official material science partner of the Cadillac Formula 1 Team, the company has announced.
Under the agreement, 3M will contribute expertise in lightweight materials, bonding and surface preparation technologies, manufacturing optimisation, laboratory testing and trackside technical support, said the US supplier 30 June.
"At 3M, we apply science and manufacturing expertise to help solve complex challenges," said chairman and CEO William Brown.
"This partnership demonstrates how our technologies can drive results in a highly demanding environment by advancing speed, efficiency and performance."
According to 3M, the partnership will also support material selection, process optimisation, testing and simulation, as well as real-time engineering support during race events.
"Formula 1 represents one of the most demanding test environments for materials anywhere in the world," said Wendy Bauer, group president of 3M's transportation and electronics business.
"Working alongside the Cadillac team allows us to push the limits of what's possible – and translate that learning into broader applications for our customers."
The Cadillac Formula 1 Team, formed by TWG Motorsports and General Motors, joined the F1 grid in 2026.
