Deal strengthens group's portfolio in 'critical sealing systems, buoyancy, cable protection and related engineering'
Weinheim, Germany – Freudenberg Flow Technologies has acquired UK-based Balmoral Comtec to expand its business serving the offshore oil, gas and renewable energy sectors.
The acquisition, completed in May, strengthens Freudenberg's 'Connectors and Sealing Solutions' business unit, which among other products supplies rubber and elastomer-based sealing and connector technologies for the energy industry.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
Based in Aberdeen, Scotland, Balmoral Comtec employs around 400 people across three UK sites and manufactures engineered buoyancy, cable protection and thermal insulation products for offshore oil & gas and wind energy projects worldwide.
The acquisition expands both the current business in the "conventional energy segment" and grows company portfolio of products in supporting "the energy transition," said Jason Kollatschny, CEO of Connectors and Sealing Solutions.
The German group said the product range complements its existing offering and supports its strategy of becoming "the leading integrated solution provider" for critical sealing systems, buoyancy, cable protection and related engineering and digital monitoring services.
