Deal includes more than 130 BestDrive outlets, two retreading plants and 1,200 employees
Hanover, Germany – Continental has completed the sale of its French service and distribution business, ContiTrade France, to investment firm ASC, six months after announcing plans to divest the operation.
The transaction, announced 3 June, includes more than 130 company-owned BestDrive outlets, two retreading facilities and the administrative functions supporting the tire and vehicle maintenance business.
Around 1,200 employees are included in the deal.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
Continental said all outlets covered by the transaction will remain part of the BestDrive France network under franchise agreements.
According to the German tire maker, the new ownership structure will allow ASC to operate the business "more independently and with greater agility" while serving existing customers and pursuing new business opportunities.
As part of the deal, ASC has signed a long-term franchise agreement with Continental.
Based in Luxembourg and Munich, ASC specialises in corporate carve-outs, spin-offs and succession situations across Europe.
