TVS Srichakra approves €20m expansion at India tire plant

Investment to increase two-wheeler, off-highway tire production capacity at Tamil Nadu site
Chennai, India – TVS Srichakra Ltd. has approved capital expenditure of up to INR2.2 billion (€20 million) to expand production capacity at its manufacturing complex in Vellaripatti, Madurai, in the southern state of Tamil Nadu.
In a 27 May stock exchange filing, the Indian tire maker said its board had approved investments of up to INR1.1 billion each for its two-wheeler tire plant and off-highway tire plant at the site, to meet growing deman for the products.
At the two-wheeler plant, the investment will increase capacity by 5%, with the additional capacity scheduled to come on stream in the first half of fiscal year 2028-29 (starting 1 April 2028).
The facility currently has annual production capacity of 21-23 million tires and is operating at around 80-85% utilisation, according to the filing.
At the off-highway tire plant, TVS Srichakra plans to add 25% capacity by the first half of fiscal year 2027-28.
The plant currently has an annual capacity of 75-85 kilotonnes and is operating at around 75-80% utilisation.
The company said both projects will be financed through a combination of internal accruals and debt.
TVS Srichakra markets its tires under the brand Eurogrip.
