First-quarter tire export volumes rise year-on-year but value declines
Beijing – China has seen its month-on-month improvement in tire exports in the month of March, but figures remain below prior-year levels in terms of both value and volume.
In March, China exported 800,000 tonnes of rubber tires, up 70,000 tonnes from the previous month but down 6.9% year-on-year, according to official data by the General Administration of Customs (GACC), released 18 April.
Export value fell 11.3% year-on-year to Yuan13.5 billion (€1.7 billion), but improved by Yuan1.061 billion compared to February.
Exports of new pneumatic rubber tires totalled 780,000 tonnes in March, up 80,000 tonnes month-on-month but down 6.6% year-on-year. Export value declined 10.9% year-on-year to Yuan13 billion.
Over the first quarter, China exported 2.35 million tonnes of rubber tires, up 5.0% year-on-year, while export value fell 0.7% to Yuan39.7 billion.
New pneumatic tire exports reached 2.26 million tonnes, up 4.8% year-on-year, with export value down 0.8% to Yuan38 billion.
In terms of units, China exported 176 million new pneumatic tires in the three months to end of March, up 4.2% year-on-year.
Passenger and commercial vehicle tire exports reached 1.97 million tonnes in the first quarter, up 4.2% year-on-year, while export value fell 2.0% to Yuan32.1 billion.
