Agency to present RAC conclusions and SEAC draft findings on risks, impacts and regulatory pathway
Helsinki — The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) will host a webinar 7 May to present the latest scientific and socio-economic assessments regarding the proposed EU restriction on per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).
The webinar follows recent opinions adopted by the agency’s Risk Assessment Committee (RAC) and Socio-Economic Analysis Committee (SEAC), said ECHA 15 April. (ERJ report)
The session will cover the “main conclusions” of RAC’s ‘final opinion’ and the “key elements” of the SEAC’s draft opinion, published 26 March.
ECHA said the webinar will address PFAS hazards, emissions and risks, as well as the “risk reduction potential” of the proposed restriction and its socio-economic impacts, including alternatives and possible derogations.
The session will also have a Q&A hour, for which questions can be sent in advance.
The agency will also outline “what happens next in the process,” as the proposal advances under the REACH restriction procedure.
According to ECHA, the event is aimed at “all interested parties,” including manufacturers, downstream users, industry groups and regulators seeking to understand the evolving regulatory framework.
