Agreement covers application development, support and adoption of automation and AI technologies
Nokia, Finland — Nokian Tyres is expanding its partnership with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) to develop its IT operations and increase the use of new technologies as part of a broader transformation programme.
Under a new strategic agreement, TCS will take over responsibility for the maintenance and development of IT applications, as well as on-site support for internal operations, effective 1 June.
The Finnish tire maker said the move builds on an existing relationship under which TCS already provides service desk support, end-user services and management of network and data centre operations.
The expanded scope is aimed at improving efficiency and aligning IT capabilities with evolving business needs, while supporting a shift towards automation, data-driven solutions and artificial intelligence.
“A more extensive partnership with TCS will enable Nokian Tyres to have a globally unified, agile, and efficient operating model that supports business needs,” said Timmy McLellan, VP IT and processes, CIO.
In addition, he said, the partnership creates a sustainable foundation for the increasing adoption of “next-generation technologies such as automation, data-driven solutions and artificial intelligence.”
Nokian added that the changes will involve a restructuring of work within its IT organisation to support the new operating model.
