Hutchinson delivers “industry-first” oil-cooled in-wheel motor seals

Paris – Hutchinson Precision Sealing Systems (PSS) has claimed an “industry-first” with the supply of oil-cooled in-wheel motor shaft seals for new energy vehicles.

In a recent statement, the French group said its PSS China team had secured “the first-round large-diameter dynamic seal proto-type development project” from Chinese stainless steel major Tsingshan Industrial.

With the development project, Hutchinson said it has become “one of the first suppliers in the industry to deliver oil-cooled in-wheel motor shaft seals,” marking a step forward in sealing solutions for NEV power systems.

According to Hutchinson, the project involved “multiple challenges such as large diameter, complex structure and tight lead time.”

The team, it said, completed “the entire process from design to production” and achieved “one-time successful installation at the client's site.”

Hutchinson said it “adhered to a customer-centric approach,” with “rapid iteration” and on-site support, including engineers stationed at the customer’s facility.

The Hutchinson team “collaborated throughout the assembly and testing processes to ensure that product performance and quality fully meet the customer's stringent requirements.”

The French group said the delivery demonstrated its 'design and manufacturing capabilities' in the field of large-diameter seals.
