Polyurethane systems plant in Tuas to begin production in third quarter of 2026
Ostfildern-Kemnat, Germany — Germany’s Wevo Chemical is expanding its footprint in Asia-Pacific with a new production site in Singapore to enhance its local supply of polyurethane systems.
Located in the Tuas industrial area, the facility will act as a regional hub for the supply of PU systems for a range of industries including e-mobility, white goods, and energy generation, distribution and storage, said Wevo 19 March.
The investment, said the German compounder, is in response to growing demand for “polyurethane-based potting compounds, adhesives and sealants.”
“Our engagement in Singapore is a central component of our globalisation and growth strategy,” said Daniel Thomas, chief executive officer of Wevo-Chemie GmbH.
“By investing in additional production capacity, we are making a clear commitment to a region that continues to grow dynamically – both economically and technologically,” he said.
The Singapore plant will replicate the production processes and quality standards of Wevo’s headquarters in southern Germany, according to compounder.
The site will include a “fully integrated production line”, along with storage and packaging capacity.
Start of production is scheduled for the third quarter of 2026, initially focusing on Wevo’s polyurethane portfolio, including potting compounds, adhesives and sealants for electronics manufacturing.
The move forms part of a broader regional expansion, following the establishment of a subsidiary in India last year.
Combined with existing operations in Hong Kong and Guangzhou, Wevo said the Singapore investment strengthens service capabilities in line with its standards.
