Facility in Changshu to support supply chain in China, Asia-Pacific region
Changshu, China – Continental’s ContiTech division has opened a new distribution centre in Changshu, in the eastern Chinese province of Jiangsu to strengthen its automotive aftermarket operations and supply chain in the region.
The first phase of the site covers 2,500 sq.m. and will focus initially on the “assembly, warehousing and distribution” of aftermarket products, said ContiTech said 18 March.
The centre is expected to serve as a regional hub, with supply capabilities extending to Japan, South Korea and Southeast Asia, supporting what ContiTech described as a more “resilient” supply chain.
“China is not only the largest single market for ContiTech Asia Pacific, but also a key growth engine in the regional supply chain layout,” said Vincent Sambo, head of channel Asia Pacific at ContiTech’s industrial solutions business.
“The opening of the Changshu distribution centre… will support the development of the Chinese market with faster response and more stable supply,” he added.
According to the company, the facility is equipped with modern warehousing infrastructure and digital management systems, including SAP S/4HANA, EDI connectivity and QR code-based tracking.
The technologies, said the parts supplier, are aimed at improving inventory accuracy and order processing efficiency.
Furthermore, the location in the Yangtze River Delta is expected to reduce delivery times to key regions by 24 hours.
The company added that the site could be expanded in future to support broader industrial distribution activities.
