Project would produce tire moulds and industrial components for export and local supply
Cairo – A leading Chinese machinery maker is mulling the construction of a tire mould and industrial components plant in Egypt, the Egyptian government has announced.
According to a 23 Feb government statement, minister Mohamed Farid met Himile Group CEO Arian Kai to review proposals for a new factory in Egypt.
The facility, it said, is to produce “tire moulds and industrial components”, with the site positioned as a regional manufacturing and export hub.
Phase I would involve foreign direct investment of around $100 million (€85 million) and cover an area of 100,000 sq.m., with the ‘formal establishment’ scheduled for first half of 2026.
The facility, said the statement, is intended to serve export markets in the Middle East, Europe and the Americas, while also supplying the domestic market.
The government said the project would strengthen Egypt’s position as a regional hub for automotive feeder industries, including tire-related manufacturing.
Farid said the ministry is committed to providing “all forms of support” to the group, including land allocation and completion of procedures, alongside ongoing follow-up to facilitate implementation.
He added that discussions also covered opportunities to deepen local supply chains and increase industrial integration, including in wind energy and marine engineering, in line with Egypt’s plan to raise the share of renewables in the energy mix.
Founded in 1995, Himile is described as a “leading global supplier” of tire moulds and related industrial components, with an international market share exceeding 30% in the tire mould sector and exports to more than 60 countries.
