ERJ spotlight on leading-edge elastomer/rubber design, materials and manufacturing technologies
Trelleborg, Sweden – Trelleborg has introduced an advanced extrusion coating technology to accelerate prototyping and deliver tailored high-performance polymer solutions.
Extrusion coating – applying a thin layer of molten polymer to a substrate – plays a vital role in creating a protective layer that enhances the durability, resistance and functionality of various materials.
For over a year, Trelleborg’s facility in Rutherfordton, North Carolina, has been testing a state-of-the-art pilot extrusion coating machine, according to a 24 Feb company release.
This advanced technology, it said, “enables rapid prototyping, significantly reducing development times and allowing engineers to test polymer-substrate combinations with “exceptional” precision.
?Building on this momentum, Trelleborg is preparing to open a dedicated facility in Forest City, North Carolina, in the second quarter of 2026.
The new extrusion coating capabilities, it stated, will “enhance Trelleborg’s ability to deliver next-generation solutions and support the evolving needs of customers.”
