Move to shut down Findlay plant to affect 85 employees, according a WARN notice
Akron, Ohio – Goodyear is planning to close its ‘Tall Timbers’ tire mould factory located in Finlay, Ohio by the end of March, the company has announced.
In a 30 Jan ‘worker adjustment and retraining notification’ (WARN) notice to the local government, Douglas Dusty director, Americas manufacturing – mixing, racing and non-tires said the decision to close “the entire plant” was expected to be permanent.
The move will impact 85 people currently employed at the site.
The Goodyear director said the company expected “employee separations” as a result of the action would start within 14 days, starting 31 March.
“There are no bumping rights at this location. The impacted employees will be offered severance and outplacement to support their transition to new employment,” he concluded.
Goodyear acquired the facility through its acquisition of Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. in 2021.
