US-based addition will strengthen industrial coated fabrics business
Brussels – Michelin has completed the acquisition of Cooley Group, following the terms announced 2 Jan and after securing all necessary regulatory approvals.
In a 22 Jan statement, the French group said the transaction represented “a good strategic fit”, with both side sharing a focus on innovation while operating in complementary geographic markets.
Headquartered in Rhode Island, US, and celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2026, Cooley Group specialises in high-performance polymer-coated fabrics. The company is vertically integrated, with operations spanning weaving, knitting and polymer extrusion.
Cooley designs and manufactures polymer-based solutions for applications including healthcare devices, waterproofing, water and chemical containment, and other mission-critical environmental uses.
With an annual revenue of $168 million (€140 million) in 2025, Cooley employs 300 people and operates four manufacturing sites in North America, including three in the US and one in Canada.
