Low burden masks to be delivered through to early 2027 under long-running support contract
Newmarket, Ontario – AirBoss of America Corp. has received a new order valued at up to US$8.1 million (€6.7 million) from the Canadian Department of National Defence (DND) for its low burden masks, filters and related accessories.
The order was placed with AirBoss Defense Group (ADG), the defence unit of AirBoss 'manufactured products' division, under the in-service support contract awarded by the Canadian DND in 2018.
Deliveries are expected to begin in the first quarter of 2026 and conclude in the first quarter of 2027, said AirBoss in a recent statement.
The low burden mask (LBM) is a lightweight military respirator designed to provide “optimal weight distribution and minimal breathing resistance”. It has been supplied to multiple partner nations since 2017.
The 2018 JGSR contract marked the first large-scale adoption of the LBM by the Canadian Armed Forces, replacing the legacy C4 gas mask and C7A canisters previously in service.
