Project to have production capacity for 10k giant tires, 85k engineering tires
Rongcheng City, China – Prinx Chengshan has rolled off the first off-the-road giant tire at its production facility in Rongcheng City, in the eastern Chinese province of Shandong.
The newly manufactured tire (model: 30.00R51), with an outer diameter of nearly 3m and a single-unit weight of 1.8 tonnes, is specifically engineered for extra-large dump trucks operating in open-pit mining area, said Prinx 19 Jan.
This, it added, marks “a crucial phased achievement” in the company’s ‘green and intelligent off-the-road tire factory’, part of a broader strategy to improve and “fill the gap” in the domestic high-end off-the-road tire sector.
Prinx launched the Yuan1.1 billion (€133 million) project in 2025 in response to an “upsurge in infrastructure investment and the accelerated modernisation of the mining industry.”
The new factory covers a floor area of more than 100,000 sq.m., and has a nameplate capacity to produce 84,000 engineering tires and 10,000 giant tires per annum.
The products, according to Prinx, are widely used in mines, construction sites, ports, airports, agriculture and industry.
The Chinese tire maker said the new ‘green and intelligent’ factory displays “independent innovation, smart manufacturing, green development and circular development,” featuring modern workshops and meeting stringent standards.
In the future, Prinx said it will leverage its five R&D centres in Rongcheng, Qingdao, Thailand, Malaysia and Europe, as well as its North American technology centre to advance its ‘high-end, intelligent and green development,’ of tires.
