Capacity at Indian subsidiary to rise by 33%, production to start in February
Nagoya, Japan – Sumitomo Riko has announced the construction of a new automotive hose production plant in Bawal, Haryana, as part of a strategy to expand hose production at its Indian subsidiary SumiRiko Imperial Rubber India Pvt. Ltd. (SRK-IR).
Built in an area of 12,765 sq.m., the INR441 million (€4.2 million) facility is scheduled to begin production in February, said Sumitomo Riko 13 Jan.
The new plant will manufacture hoses for cars and motorcycles and is expected to raise SRK-IR’s production capacity by about 33%.
It will also strengthen supply to major customers with production bases in northern India.
Sumitomo Riko said demand in India continues to grow, with the country now the world’s fifth-largest economy by GDP and third-largest market for new vehicle sales.
At the same time, tightening emissions regulations and electrification are driving demand for higher-quality hose products that meet environmental and customer requirements.
SRK-IR is a 60/40 joint venture companies between Sumitomo Riko and India's IAI Group, established in 2005.
Based in Faridabad, Haryana, the company is specialised in manufacturing direct injection fuel hoses and assemblies for OEMs in India.
