Trelleborg, Sweden - Trelleborg Group has expanded its manufacturing footprint with the opening of a new production facility for medical components and devices in Costa Rica.
Based in Costa Rica’s ‘evolution free zone industrial park,’ the facility is the group’s first medical facility in Central America, said Trelleborg 10 Dec.
The location, it said, “strengthens our global supply chain and supports key customers with streamlined, nearshore production.”
The site offers “finished medical devices, components and assemblies in one location,” according to Linda Muroski, president of Trelleborg Medical Solutions (TMS).
By producing the components at a single site and moving them to assembly under one roof, TMS will reduce freight costs and management of multiple vendors for customers, she explained.
The new site features cleanroom production, “advanced moulding”, thermoplastic manufacturing, and assembly, meeting “rigorous healthcare standards.”
