Part among “most underestimated products”, despite contribution to public health
Frankfurt – The German rubber industry association (WDK) has underscored the essential role of drinking-water seals as part of its "Rubber - we save the world" campaign.
Describing the products as “small but mighty” components that make clean water supply possible, WDK said the parts are among the “most underestimated products,” despite their contribution to public health and environmental protection.
“On a scale of the most underestimated products, drinking water seals are likely to rank at the top,” said Volker Krings, chief chemist at the association.
The seals, he said, “guarantee clean water and thus the most valuable food for humans."
In addition, Krings said water seals make a significant contribution to the environment and ecosystems, meeting strict certification standards to ensure no pathogens, toxic substances or impurities enter the water supply, while also remaining neutral in taste and smell.
According to WDK, the seals face “enormous requirements”, combining durability with resistance to temperature fluctuations, pressure and leakage over service lives of up to 50 years.
