Sumitomo Rubber acquires Dunlop brand rights in Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei

Deal, effective beginning 2026, excludes aircraft and winter tires
Tokyo – Sumitomo Rubber Industries (SRI) has announced that it is acquiring “all exclusive right to use of the Dunlop trademark for tires, tubes, and flaps in Malaysia, Singapore, and Brunei.”
The rights were previously granted under a sub-licence to Continental Tyre Malaysia group of companies, and will be formally acquired by SRI at the beginning of next year, the Japanese group announced 3 Dec.
Starting 1 Jan 2026, SRI said it will begin operating its sales business under the Dunlop brand in these regions.
The deal excludes aircraft and winter tires.
