Project to add 10ktpa of capacity at Yokkaichi plant by December 2027
Tokyo – Eneos Materials Corp. has announced plans to increase production capacity for solution styrene butadiene rubber (SSBR) at its facility in Yokkaichi, Japan.
As part of the plan, the Japanese supplier expects to increase output capacity for the tire materials by 10 kilotonnes per annum by December 2027, Eneos announced 4 Nov.
The expansion is aligned with “the shift toward vehicle electrification and higher performance,” which Eneos said has accelerated global demand for high-functional tire materials.
Eneos currently produces SSBR at three bases in Japan, Thailand, and Hungary and supplies to major tire manufacturers in Japan and overseas.
Expecting further demand growth, Eneos said the investment will enable it to provide SSBR “more flexibly even when demand fluctuates.”
Furthermore, the company said the move was aligned with the Eneos Group medium-term management plan which outlines 'above-market' growth rate in the SSBR business.
In addition, the company said it intended to further enhance technical capabilities of the three bases to expand the development and supply structure of high-functional tire materials.
