‘Flagship centre’ to be built with investment of $300m, with full ramp-up scheduled for 2030
Leudelange, Luxembourg – OCSiAl has launched development of the “world’s largest graphene nanotube production facility” in Differdange, Luxembourg.
In a 12 Nov statement, the carbon nanotube manufacturer said the flagship centre represents a $300 million (€260 million) investment and will bring more than 300 new jobs as production ramps up between 2028 and 2030.
The project to build the “scalable energy-efficient manufacturing centre” follows a new investment round from a “club” of Luxembourg-based investors and is intended to position the country as a “key player” in industrial innovation in Europe.
The centre, it added, will strengthen Europe’s position in the global advanced-materials value chain and serve as a “training and development hub for the next generation of engineers and scientists.”
“This major investment in graphene nanotubes demonstrates investors’ confidence in our ecosystem and highlights the potential of our business parks to host high-tech industrial projects,” said Lex Delles, minister of the economy, SME, energy & tourism.
Founded in Luxembourg in 2010, OCSiAl is one of the world’s largest producers of graphene nanotubes, which can be used in various applications, including rubber & tire reinforcement.
