Funding for Partner Thermo Lysi completes financing process of ELT recycling plant
Dillingen, Germany – Pyrum Innovations AG has advanced its previously announced end-of-life tire (ELT) pyrolysis project in Greece following an EU grant to project partner Thermo Lysi SA.
In a 10 Nov statement, the German waste tire recycler said Thermo Lysi received a €29.4 million funding approval from the European Innovation Fund (EIF), completing the financing process for the project.
With a planned capacity to process 45 kilotonnes per annum (ktpa) of ELTs, the plant will be “twice as large as originally planned and one of the largest and most modern pyrolysis plants in Europe,” said Pyrum.
With a total investment of €100 million, the facility will be based on Pyrum’s thermolysis technology, featuring up to six reactors.
Pyrum currently is the technology supplier to the facility in Livanates, 140km north of Athens, but intends to acquire a stake of “at least 10%” in the project company's equity.
According to Pyrum, all the required building and environmental permits as well as licensing approvals are in place, meaning that the project is “ready to go.”
