Lummus to act as global licensor for continuous ELT processing technology
Houston, Texas – Lummus Technology and InnoVent Renewables have signed a ‘master cooperation agreement’ to jointly licence and deploy InnoVent’s continuous tire pyrolysis technology worldwide.
The deal follows an MoU earlier this year and confirms Lummus as the exclusive global licensor of the system, which converts end-of-life tires into pyrolysis oil, gas, recovered carbon black and steel.
The collaboration between the two US-based companies also includes integrating Lummus’ downstream processing technologies to upgrade the liquid and chemical outputs.
“This marks the next phase of our partnership with InnoVent,” said Leon de Bruyn, president and CEO of Lummus. He said the two companies aim to “scale and advance” tire pyrolysis as a circular option for reducing waste.
InnoVent’s system provides what the company describes as a “scalable, end-to-end solution” covering tire pre-processing through to purification of oils and other recovered materials.
The company currently operates a commercial facility in Monterrey, Mexico, with capacity to process up to one million passenger tires per year, and is planning expansion.
According to InnoVent CEO Vibhu Sharma, Lummus’ global presence and complementary technologies will be “instrumental in scaling up” the system.
