Six-day suspension to align output with market conditions
London - Pirelli UK is temporarily halting production at its manufacturing plants due to 'market conditions'.
In a 27 Oct statement to ERJ, the Italian tire maker said it halted production at its Burton-on-Trent plant for 6 days from 24-29 Oct, and at its Carlisle plant from 26-31 Oct.
The pause in activity, said Pirelli, is to “align output with prevailing market conditions.”
The tire maker reiterated that the production suspension was “a temporary measure and the company remains fully committed to its UK operations.”
“Pirelli continues to invest in its local manufacturing and recognises the strategic value of the UK market within its global footprint,” it added.
Both Pirelli plants have been operational since 1969.
The Burton-on-Trent factory has a nameplate production capacity of 200,000 passenger car/light vehicle tires per annum and while the Carlisle plant has a capacity to produce 3 million PC/LT tires per year.
