Washington – Continental Tire the Americas LLC (CTA) is recalling nearly 7,000 tires for potential tread defects, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced 17 Oct.
The Continental- and General-branded tires for light trucks, SUVs and crossovers were produced in October 2024 at the company’s factory in CTA's factory in Sumter, South Carolian, NHTSA said.
Affected tires, said the agency, could experience “a partial or full tread detachment” which may lead to an increased risk of a crash.
CTA has determined that a “nonconforming tread base rubber compound” was used to produce four products during DOT weeks 4024 and 4124.
“Affected tires may exhibit localised tread wear, excessive vibration, noise and/or bulging in the tread area,” the report added.
