TSR 20 prices remained largely ‘static’ throughout August, fluctuating within a narrow 5 €cent/kg band, reported the Rubber Trade Association of Europe. The euro-dollar exchange rate showed little movement during the month, which is considered as the “main vacation month,” with many market participants absent in Europe.
Natural rubber (NR) futures strengthened in the trading week ended 10 Oct, following the week-long Chinese national day holiday. Prices, however, “continued to trade within a tight range without a clear direction,” reported JPX. Meanwhile, it said, the renewal of trade wars between China and the US "raised concerns that rubber and equity markets could come under renewed pressure."
