Industry body still listed as 'the voice of the tire and rubber goods producers to EU institutions...'
Brussels – The European Tyre & Rubber Manufacturers’ Association (ETRMA) is to issue “an update on the Association” in the coming weeks, the industry body has informed ERJ.
In April, Brussels-based ETRMA confirmed the departures of Germany’s WDK and other rubber industry associations from the pan-industry organisation.
Without providing background details, it said the general rubber goods associations had “chosen to resign from ETRMA at the end of last year.”
ETRMA thanked the departing bodies for their contributions over many years in supporting “our shared goals in sustainability, innovation, and competitiveness.”
Currently, on its website, ETRMA still describes itself as “the voice of the tire and rubber goods producers to the EU Institutions.”
ETRMA was created in 2006 to replace BLIC (Bureau de Liaison des Industries du Caoutchouc) as the representative body for tire and rubber product manufacturers.
Unlike BLIC, individual tire & rubber companies could become members of ETRMA: its predecessor only accepted national federations as members.
